How the Kibor Calculator Works

Banks price most loans as Kibor plus a margin. This calculator takes today's published rate for your tenor, adds your margin, and converts the result into a monthly instalment.

  1. Pick a tenor, such as 1 Year or 3 Month. The calculator uses today's published rate for that tenor.
  2. Choose the basis. Loans are normally priced off the Offer rate, which is the rate banks lend at.
  3. Add your bank margin. A quote of "1 Year Kibor + 5%" adds 5% to the Kibor rate.
  4. Choose the tenure and press Calculate. You get the equal monthly instalment, total markup and total payable.

The formula

EMI = P × r × (1 + r)n  ÷  ((1 + r)n − 1)

EMI is the equal monthly instalment, P is the loan amount, r is the monthly rate (the all-in annual rate divided by 12), and n is the number of months. Total markup is the total paid over the tenure minus the amount borrowed.
