Understanding the Kibor Charts
What every line, band and curve on this page means
Bid and Offer
Every KIBOR quote has two sides: the Bid is what banks pay to borrow money and the Offer is what they charge to lend it. Solid lines are bid, dashed lines are offer, and the gap between them is the market spread.
Tenors
From Overnight and 1 Week out to 1 Year, each tenor reflects a different money-market horizon. Short tenors react to daily liquidity; long tenors price in expectations about future rates and policy.
Term Structure
The yield curve plots rate against tenor. When long tenors cost more than short ones the curve slopes upward, which is the normal shape. The “Yield Curve Over Time” chart shows how this shape has shifted over the years.
